Getting started
What does Cookify do?
It recognises the ingredients you have from a photo, suggests recipes that fit your diet, allergies and taste, and turns the week into a plan and a shopping list.
Which phones does it run on?
iPhone and Android phones. Cookify is not in the App Store or Google Play yet; this site will show the store badges once it is.
Which languages does it speak?
English and Bulgarian. Switch in the app under Profile, Settings, Language.
Accounts and sign-in
How do I create an account?
With your email address and a password during the first run. Your recipes, plans and lists then sync between your devices.
I forgot my password.
Choose Forgot password on the sign-in screen. A six-digit code is emailed to you; it expires after ten minutes, and setting a new password signs out every other device.
Why was I asked to sign in again?
Sessions end after a while or when a password is changed, to protect the account. Sign in again and everything is where you left it.
How do I change my email or password?
In the app under Profile, Settings, Account. Changing the email asks you to confirm the new address.
Scanning ingredients
How does scanning work?
Lay the ingredients out in one layer in good light and take a photo. Cookify sends it to its AI provider, which names what it sees; you then keep what is right, drop what is not and add what was missed. The photo is not stored.
Something was recognised wrongly.
Remove it from the list before you ask for recipes, or add the right name by hand. Packaged products and unusual items are the hardest to recognise.
Why does the app ask for camera or photo access?
Only to take or choose the photo of your ingredients. You can allow it at that moment and withdraw it in your phone's settings at any time.
Recipes
How are recipes chosen?
From Cookify's own catalogue, matched to what you have and filtered by your diet, allergies and dislikes; the best matches come first, with what is still missing shown for each.
How accurate are they?
Catalogue recipes are tested and checked. Quantities are for the stated servings; cooking times are guidance. Read a recipe through before you start.
Can I save a recipe?
Yes. Favourites keep it on all your devices, and you can add its missing ingredients to the shopping list in one tap.
AI-generated recipes
What are AI recipes?
When the catalogue has nothing that fits, Cookify asks an AI model to write recipes from your ingredients and preferences. They are marked as AI-generated and checked for your allergies and your filters before you see them.
Can I trust them?
Treat them as suggestions. A model can make mistakes in quantities, steps or combinations. Use your judgement, and never rely on them for allergy safety.
Is there a limit?
Premium includes a monthly allowance of AI scans and generations that covers ordinary use. When it is used up, AI features pause until the next calendar month; the catalogue, your favourites, plans and lists keep working.
Dietary preferences and allergies
How do preferences work?
Set your diet, allergies and the foods you do not like under Profile. Catalogue and AI recipes are filtered by them, and anything that conflicts is kept out or marked.
Can I rely on the allergy filter?
No filter can replace reading the label. Cookify does its best with the ingredient names it knows, but products change and recognition can be wrong. Always check the ingredients yourself if an allergy is serious.
Are nutrition values exact?
They are estimates from reference data for typical ingredients and portions, not measurements of your dish.
Weekly planning
How does the weekly plan work?
Cookify fills the week with recipes that fit your preferences and what you have. Change any day you like, and the shopping list follows the plan.
Does it use what I scanned?
Yes. Recipes that use what you already have come first, and the plan tells you what is still missing.
Shopping lists
Where does the list come from?
From the recipes you plan or open: their missing ingredients are added with their amounts, merged when the same item appears twice. Add your own items too.
Can I use it in the shop?
Tick items as you buy them; the list stays in sync across your devices and keeps what you ticked.
Notifications
What notifications does Cookify send?
Only local reminders you choose: a dinner reminder, a shopping reminder and a reminder before a trial ends. Nothing is sent from our servers, and you can switch them off in the app or in your phone's settings.
Privacy and account deletion
What happens to my photos and data?
The ingredient photo is used to recognise ingredients and is not stored. Your account, preferences and what you save stay with your account; usage statistics are collected only if you allow them in the app, and are kept without your name or email. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account?
In the app under Profile, Settings, Delete account, or on the website at cookifyapp.com/account/delete after signing in; either way you confirm with your password. Your data is deleted as the Privacy Policy describes. A store subscription must be cancelled separately in the store.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Sign in on the website at cookifyapp.com/account and choose Download my data, or write to us from the email address of your account and we will send it.
Troubleshooting
The app does not load or keeps spinning.
Check your connection, close and reopen the app, and make sure it is up to date. If it still fails, write to us with what you see.
A scan or an AI request failed.
Usually a weak connection or a very dark or blurry photo. Try again with the ingredients laid out in one layer in good light. If the monthly AI allowance is used up, the app says so.
Will I lose my favourites or my list?
No. They are kept with your account and come back when you sign in on any device.
